It’s been a busy December in Harrogate, where our head office is based, and we’ve summarised some of the news and events that have been making headlines locally this month.
Harrogate Christmas Window Competition 2017
We may not have a large shop window but we still managed to contribute to the Harrogate Christmas Window Competition with our first floor window offering. It was great to take part in something that had a real community spirit about it and we loved seeing so many fabulous window displays on show. Credit of course to the winners, Bijouled, on Parliament Street. Their window featured a skirt made up of polaroid photos and it was a real statement piece. Betty’s also had a fantastic window, with their theme of “Be Enchanted” this year.
Not only did the festive window displays delight Harrogate residents, our town was also featured in it’s very own Channel 5 documentary! Harrogate: A Great Yorkshire Christmas is available on catch-up TV.
The 12m Flats in Harrogate
In mid-December, news broke about two new apartments in Harrogate that were going on sale for a record-breaking £12m each. The four-bedroom penthouse flats will form part of the old council offices right in the heart of the town centre and close to the famous Royal Hall, Harrogate Conference Centre and The Majestic Hotel. Given the fact Harrogate is regularly voted the Happiest Place to Live in the UK, it’s no surprise developers are looking at snapping up prime real estate in our town.
Santa Parade
A special mention has to go to the Santa parade in Pateley Bridge that took place this December. 100 Santas strolled down the main shopping street in the pretty little village, which raised £1,000 for Dementia Forward. Read the full article here.
It’s Snow Joke!
The odds of a White Christmas were looking better than ever this year, and certainly in Harrogate it felt cold enough to snow. Still, we missed out on a white Christmas Day but on 29th December Harrogate woke up to a blanket of snow across the town! Even just being a few days after Christmas, this definitely counts as our White Christmas.
Happy Christmas and here’s to 2018!
