Due to continued expansion of the Immigration team, Truth Legal are looking to appoint a solicitor specialising in immigration.

With offices in Leeds and Harrogate, Truth Legal prides itself on being an ethical and affordable law firm with a strong commitment to the care of both clients and staff alike. Founded in 2012, the firm has undergone continued expansion in its personnel and services, including the opening of an Immigration department in 2019.

Due to unprecedented client demand, the Immigration department continues to grow and is again recruiting in multiple roles, including a solicitor.

You will be a practicing solicitor with a specialism and primary interest in immigration law. We welcome applications from NQs to more established solicitors.

Who are we looking for? Someone with a genuine interest in all things immigration, someone motivated by a wish to help others.

Aside from casework, the ideal candidate will be fully engaged with the department head and rest of the team in developing the department and continuing our growth.

As you will be joining a relatively new but ambitious firm and department, both on a strong upward trajectory, there is excellent opportunity for career progression.

We pride ourselves on our numerous blogs and guides which are freely available. We expect you to contribute to this, and as such should be able to write clearly and concisely (or have the potential for such skills to be developed).

You will be expected to manage your own caseload. We have an approximate 50/50 split of personal and business immigration. Ideally, you would be experienced and adept at running cases involving sponsor licence applications/sponsorship, Partner visas, naturalisation applications and EU Settlement Scheme applications.

We are hoping to obtain a legal aid contract, subject to us having capacity. Whilst we would welcome an individual with experience in legal aid, if your sole focus is legal aid work then this might not be the right time to join us (but perhaps later!).

This is an excellent chance to join a close-knit but expanding team, with the opportunity to undertake meaningful work, including some pro-bono or reduced-fee work (and potentially legally aided work in the future). This is a full-time and permanent position, based primarily at our Leeds office, although we offer mixed office/home working. We offer a competitive salary and terms.

  • Qualified solicitor

Immigration consultant (flexible hours)

Due to continued strong client demand, the Immigration department is now looking to recruit in multiple roles, including an immigration consultant.

You will be experienced at running your own cases. We are inundated with individuals and businesses looking for support in the following areas: applying for and managing sponsor licences; Partner visa applications; naturalisation and EU Settlement Scheme applications.

We are preferably looking for someone with experience in supporting businesses around sponsor licence applications and sponsorship matters more generally. Although sponsor licence work will be your focus, you will also have the option of working on a wider spectrum of immigration cases.

The consultant will work on a fee-share basis. The consultant is not expected to bring in their own caseload – due to the growing reputation and strong online presence of Truth Legal, we can allocate work to suit your hours. We anticipate that the nature of this consultancy role –supporting businesses and individuals without an obligation to carry out wider BD work for Truth Legal – should lead to a significant remuneration for the consultant.

Although you will operate a considerable degree of autonomy in this position, you will be fully supported in your role and will very much be a key part of a close-knit team.

This position may suit someone who is looking to work flexibly and/or part-time hours. We offer the option of remote working or office-based working in Leeds or Harrogate.

Personal Injury Fee Earner

Truth Legal are recruiting a junior fee earner based in our Personal Injury Department.  This is a full-time hybrid role based in our Harrogate office with the opportunity to work from home as well.

The successful candidate will manage an existing caseload of personal injury MOJ Portal claims from beginning to end to include RTA, PL and EL claims. In addition, the successful candidate would be responsible for some Fast-Track claims and will also be required to assist senior fee earners with Multi-Track matters.

The successful candidate will be expected to conduct and manage all aspects of their caseload, including taking appropriate daily decisions involving considerable exercise of judgment subject to supervision. The role will also involve assisting clients with new enquiries and vetting new claims.

The successful candidate will have:-

  • A passion for personal injury law.
  • Good knowledge of personal injury law.
  • Good knowledge of CPR, rules relating to evidence, litigation process and funding.
  • Ability to assess and advise on evidence, liability and quantum.
  • Good numerical skills and ability to calculate special damages.
  • Ability to work quickly, accurately and to deadlines.
  • Ability to prioritise with good organisational skills.
  • Good verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong case management skills.
  • Ability to work as part of a team.
  • Ability to empathise with clients.
  • Be target driven and proactive.

Experience of civil assault claims would be advantageous but is not essential.
