May 15 2023,

Paula* was involved in an accident at work whilst she was carrying out her duties as a cleaner. Paula was carrying rubbish bags to the external bins when she slipped on snow causing injury to her foot. Paula initially thought her injuries were minor and that she would make a full recovery but unfortunately she suffered life changing injuries.

Injuries

Paula had several sessions of physiotherapy treatment and when she did not improve she was referred to a Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon. Paula’s surgeon advised her that she needed surgery, and she underwent reconstruction surgery to her ankle and foot. Paula was in hospital for several days and finally returned to full-time work 6 months after the surgery.  When Paula returned to work she struggled to fulfil her duties as a cleaner and needed to take more time off work.  Unfortunately the surgery was unsuccessful and Paula had to undergo surgery multiple times and was left with permanent symptoms in her foot and ankle causing significant pain and discomfort and limitations.

Paula suffered life changing injuries requiring care and assistance and aids and equipment to assist with her mobility.  Unfortunately as Paula did not recover from her injuries it meant that she could not return to the job that she loved and had been doing for many years.

Truth Legal’s involvement

Paula contacted Truth Legal after her accident and was connected with Catherine Reynolds, the Head of Personal Injury at Truth Legal. Catherine worked on Paula’s case with diligence and determination and managed to get a full admission of liability from Paula’s employer.  Catherine secured compensation for Paula’s pain suffering and loss of amenity caused by her injuries and compensation for her loss of income.  In addition, Paula received compensation for the care and assistance her family provided her with. Catherine also managed to secure several interim payments to assist Paula along the way as her claim took several years to conclude.

Through Catherine’s efforts and perseverance, what initially appeared to be a minor injury case was revealed to be a much more severe one, and as a result, Paula was able to recover the compensation she deserved.
